Well, here we are into a new year. We have a dry spell here in Washington. I went to the boat to check on things. Manchester was there. We have been attending a church that we have been going to for many years, not regularly, because I like to attend other churches.
With that I have noticed many churches seem to be trending to reach out to a younger demographic. So, much to my consternation the Pastors, Associate Pastors, etc. appear to be dressing down. Now let me explain I don't expect the Pastor to wear robes and such, but faded, baggie, blue jeans, shirts open at the collar, shirttails hanging out and unshaven! Please, give me a break. So I thought that this would be a good question for the Angel.
"What I have told you in the past, your Heavenly Father has created you to be free here on earth. With this freedom your churches are allowed to operate anyway they see fit. Which also includes their pastors. I get the feeling because you're old school, you expect the preacher should at least wear a suit and tie."
You've got me right, I feel that the Pastor has a position of responsibility to his flock. He should, on Sunday, dress as though he were going to see the President. Not work in his yard or lie around the house watching T.V. In my experience young people also expect an older person, a leader of their church to dress appropriately, not try to dress like a teenager.
When I asked them about it they would say that they felt Christ dressed down to appeal to the poor.
"They have no real idea how Christ dressed. Christ dressed not to appeal to the poor or wealthy. His robes were clean and neat that's all.
"What was important was the message, I'm sure the pastors in your area feel the same. If your pastors are dressing in a way to appeal to just the young people, the poor or rich, I feel that they're missing something. "
With that he was gone!
