Easter has come and passed and we Americans have celebrated with great gusto! Lots of advertisements TV specials etc.. All seeming to miss the true meaning of Easter.
So I thought I would go to Manchester and see what He might have to say about it. Fortunately He was on the boat, I told him that we of faith have always thought that Easter was all about Christ having come back to life after being crucified. What else is there.
"There is more to it, there is a major symbolic reason. For thousands of years human kind has been afraid of the finality of death. They have been trying to escape death with having their bodies prepared in many ways to prevent decay so they may rise up looking good and feeling good to embrace the new world.
"We know about the Egyptians wanting to be entombed with all of their belongings, including their wives and servants! Now in your time you know they did not make it.
"The Bible speaks of eternal life, it gives hope for a better life in Heaven, but how do we get there without dying? We know that we all will have a physical death unless you are raptured (rising up in a cloud to Heaven as Christ did. Acts 1/9-12).
"The importance of Christ rising is to prove to humanity that not only was he the Son of your Creator but life after death is possible.
"If there is no life (spiritual life) then there will be no witnesses of your Heavenly fathers creation of humanity and how they did on your planet.
"If there is no spiritual life after death then as humans what have we accomplished? What has He accomplished? If all ends in death then the most important creature on earth would be the one that lives the longest, like those giant turtles on the Galapagos Islands.
"All that you do on your planet, all the science to save lives, all the land, power and money you acquire ends in death, look where you are now, all the fancy gadgets, flying across continents, walking around with phones that can communicate with anyone anywhere, what has all of that gotten you when your dead, the entire world is on the brink of war, you haven't advanced at all, so I ask you then, whats it all about? Think about it."
He has given me a lot to think about!
