We have just survived a horrific storm here in the Seattle area. The storms have prevented me from going to the boat, so I have not been able to see Manchester.
I have decided to tell you how much my faith has helped me deal with situations that are beyond my physical control. The greatest gift other than our salvation, I feel is the power of prayer. Prayer, the ability to connect with our Heavenly father directly or through our assigned Angels, I personally believe that our Creator is too busy to receive and act on our wishes and needs every second of every day just as our Mayors, Governors, etc. can be at our beck and call all the time, they have a staff to deal with our wants. I believe Our Angels, do the same for our Creator, they are his "staff".
I recall when I was young I would pray in situations where I needed "outside help". As I grew older and started to drift away from the Church, (feeling I was not morally qualified), there were times that I needed spiritual intervention. I always started my prayer with "the Lords Prayer," the way I was living I felt I needed cleansing before I would be heard. Most of the time it worked, there are times even now I feel it to be necessary to "cleanse" before praying.
Having the belief that there is something greater than us, that cares about us and has an active part in our lives, helps give me the strength and hope to carry on in difficult situations. This belief also helps me to accept the things that I have no power over.
This helps me to find peace in my life, it reduces stress. I can see how not believing can affect some people in their lives, the stress and feeling of hopelessness could drive them to crime, murder and even taking their own lives.
Why did I select our Heavenly Father and the Holy Bible? When I was searching for meaning in my life I read a number of philosophers and I felt I should include the Bible. I decided to read on my own and not go to Bible studies. I discovered a number of passages that some Churches tend to avoid, many in Romans and other letters by Paul. I feel that Paul is the apostle to we gentiles. In Romans 2/14 "When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law." Paul tells us that Christ, has freed us from old laws.
When I see our beautiful world it is impossible for me not to believe that there is an incredible "scientist" with a multitude of helpers who have created this environment that is able to sustain all the life that they have created in their time.
It boggles my mind that many of our most brilliant minds refuse to admit that there could be a collection of "super scientists" existing in secret. The only evidence I have is my life and the life of the planet and all thats in it. Our own scientists and their accomplishments help me to believe in our Creator. Thank you Jesus, our Creator.
