We were on the boat during August and Manchester won't appear with other people on the boat. But I felt his presence as I considered how much our Heavenly Father has enhanced my life.
Many years ago when I was about ten years old, a friend's mother invited to me to attend their Church. I was in a Sunday school class that I enjoyed and I attended fairly regularly.
When I was in high school, a friend and I went to a tent meeting where I stepped forward and accepted Christ, attended Church and studied the Bible. Later on I left the Church and chased around - not appropriate behavior for a good Church boy.
It took a number of years for me to settle down and realize the true values in life. Besides salvation, I learned to value and use prayer, our Lord has blessed my life greatly. Of course it has improved my wife's and family's lives as well. I prayed for a wife and our Lord delivered the perfect woman for me, we are going on 53 years.
When I pray for anything that is serious and appropriate my prayer is answered.
Just the other day we had a powerful wind storm in the Seattle area, with strong gusts downing trees throughout the region and two lives lost.
We live in a forest of about 2+ acres, so when we get wind storms it is very scary. We have several out buildings, and of course our home, so I always pray that none of our buildings or home receive damage. I also pray for our lives and everyones safety.
When I could see that this was a serious storm I prayed. During the storm my wife and I went out for lunch because our power went out. While we were out, we got a call from our son, who was very upset telling us that a large tree came down. The tree fell across the driveway, missing the house by three feet. By falling across the driveway, it could have killed or injured us as we drove by. Our son was planning on driving out also.
When we got back and I saw the size of the tree, I felt our Heavenly Father answered my prayer and saved our lives and property. You could say it was fate, but I say it was prayer; we have had three near misses over the years.
Thank you Heavenly Father, for your protection, amen.
